Perfect Playdough {recipe}

Perfect Playdough {recipe}

We recently made some playdough to take to a little friend who got hurt and is stuck in bed for a while.  It turned out so great, it’s silly how excited I am about this awesome playdough.  It is so delightfully smooth and squishy, it really is the perfect playdough recipe!  It would make really great stocking-stuffers and it’s cheap and only takes about 5 minutes to make!

Ingredients (from How Does She?)

1 cup flour

1 cup water

1/4 cup salt

2 tsp. cream of tartar

1 T. vegetable oil

food coloring (I used the gel kind)

After we gathered all the ingredients…

We put them in a pot over medium heat.

I added a squirt of red food coloring and started stirring (you have to stir constantly).

At first it was really runny and lumpy.

Then it started to thicken.

As soon as it started to form a ball I took it out of the pot and set it on some foil to cool.

Once it was cool it was ready to play with!

I hope our little friend enjoys it!

  1. Homemade playdough is THE BEST, and what a nice idea for a convalescent kiddo!!!! I saw your picture on the Whipperberry linky and it caught my eye so I thought I’d stop by! I made some glittery playdough recently and colored/scented it using Nesquik milkshake powder (I know some people use Kool Aid for this purpose instead!). It was such a lot of fun… my kids loved it! I hadn’t thought of making some for stocking stuffers & gifts though… great idea!
